Should We Give Members Weekly Download Credits?
« on: February 28, 2018, 03:51:41 PM »
We set up this website to encourage sharing of ideas about Knowledge Organisers.
One way we have tried to encourage sharing is by the use of download credits?
New members get 5 credits to use for downloads and the idea is that if you contribute or reply to something you gain more credits.

Many members use up their 5 credits straight away.

We have been wondering whether to give these members new free credits every week.
What do you think?

Should members who use their credits get more free? Should that be weekly?
Or should members get more free credits to begin with? If so, how many?

Or should we abandon the idea of credits altogether?

Tell us what you think by replying. (Of course you will receive credits for every contribution  :D )

I like the idea of gaining new download credits at regular intervals.
5 new credits each week seems like a good balance between allowing those who want downloads to access more, whilst at the same time encouraging participation.

So I vote for 5 new credits every week to those who have used up their credits.

This would be useful. It is good to encourage members to comment on materials they have used. But a weekly budget would help as well.

I agree a weekly budget or a starting budget would be useful to get cracking with a few downloads

I do like the idea in principle as I wonder how many posts are valuable when you comment to earn credit

I like the idea of members earning credits, but some members of the community will be relatively inexperienced and/or lacking in confidence to do so. A regular credit top-up may allow them to grow through accessing and using other resources and help them build towards contributing more themselves.
