Knowledge Organiser Templates - What Are Your Thoughts?
« on: November 09, 2018, 12:43:54 PM »

There has been a suggestion that Knowledge Organisers created in schools would benefit from some sort of consistency.

This might be consistency within a school and across subject areas.

To achieve this it would be a good idea to provide one or more templates for teachers to base their Knowledge Organisers on.

1) What do members think of this idea?
2) If you think templates for Knowledge Organisers is a good idea, what should the templates look like?
3) Can you point to a Knowledge Organiser that would be a good example to start from?

We would be happy to host Knowledge Organiser templates on this website (totally free of course).

Does anyone have any thoughts on this idea? Please reply below.

Templates sounds like a good idea. It might encourage more sharing between schools and thereby reduce workload.
The problem might be in trying to agree on the template design.

There would probably be a need for several different templates.
How about a specific template for each subject or age group.

Alternatively, how about a set of specific rules about how the Knowledge Organiser should be produced.
Is anyone clear what basic rules/guidelines would be required?
Love playing with webstuff with my classes.

As someone who is very new to knowledge organisers, it would be great to have a starting point. I would really like these to become part of our topic planning and preparation.

I agree with the point made above, as I am new to using knowledge organisers so a template that can be adapted to suit across the curriculum and within the whole school would be really useful.

The reason I found myself here in the first place was because I wanted to begin using knowledge organisers but couldn't find a ready made one that suited my needs and felt overwhelmed by the notion of creating one from scratch! A template would be a nice middle ground for those of us just starting out on this!  ;D

I agree with the posts.  I think it would be a great idea to have a template.  I know my school is looking at introducing them but I have no idea where to start and would really appreciate some help.

Maybe have a set of basic templates for schools/teachers to choose from and then group them by template?
