How do you introduce students to this work?

Because context is so important, I think this is where we need to start so that, as pupils read the play, they understand why Priestly developed his characters in this way.  They also need the contextual links to the historical events mentioned and the politics of the time it is set. 
They also need introduced to drama as a whole.

Also - if there is time in the curriculum - the BBC version is brilliant in terms of giving them an idea of the play.

I like to enact a dinner party and seat the students so they surround the table.  They love it!

Same as above - it's a play and so is meant to be acted. I set up my classroom as a dining set and get the students to perform it. It creates a lot of giggles but my classes have all enjoyed it. Don't be afraid to have a few no writing lessons - it's essential to their understanding of the genre: a play!
